Protect yourself with the question mark?

From a recent post against Obama (I’m not going to include the argument since its moot):

“Please note that this is not proof…that’s why the title ends with a question mark.”

You got to love when people justify their articles with the question mark. Reminds me of the Jon Stewart bit pointing out how all the major news networks took advantage of this.

Catch 22

I like McCain. I like Obama.

There, I just wrote an even handed political article. Or did I? Obama supporters won’t like that I said something nice about McCain, and McCain supporters won’t like I said something nice about Obama. Damn now everyone’s going to hate this article. It’s not even handed, it’s the most politically bias article in the world.

Obama/McCain Tax Calculator

Here’s a great idea, but poorly implemented: “Obama/McCain Tax Calculator”:http://alchemytoday.com/obamataxcut/. This offers a rough idea of how your taxes would be impacted by both Obama and McCain’s tax plan. While not as robust as something I would, it offers a glimpse into things. Their figures are based off of analysis from the “Tax Policy Center”:http://taxpolicycenter.org/. Due to the low popularity of the site, I’m sure neither campaign would admit to the accuracy or lack there of.

Obama offers a “tax calculator”:http://taxcut.barackobama.com/ on his site, and McCain offers “examples”:http://www.johnmccain.com/TaxFacts/Family.htm. Obama’s site offers too few choices, while McCain’s site only presents a couple scenarios. The dream would be to have one calculator, where both Obama and McCain’s campaign could enter their formulae. This will never happen, since neither campaign would ever release that much power. If I had the time and economic prowess, I would love to put it together, but I would need serious assistance.

Any Democrats and Republicans willing to help out?

CNN – if everyone hates it, they must be doing something right

I spent the morning catching up on the more politically biased blogs out there. After reading several conservative and liberal blogs, I discovered that commenters agree on one thing: CNN is biased. Now the liberal blog commenters call CNN right wing media, while conservative blog commenters consider CNN part of the liberal MSM (Mainstream Media). If CNN is pissing off both sides of the spectrum, they must be doing something right.

Summize – instant news (a.k.a. Hulu is down)

A couple of my friends have become addicted to “twitter”:http://twitter.com, but I just haven’t found use of the service, until now. No I’m not updating twitter with my life happenings, but rather I’m using a recently bought service called “Summize”:http://www.summize.com. This service lets you search across Twitter for specific words, and today the word was Hulu.

I went to catch up on my latest prime time shows on “Hulu”:http://www.hulu.com, but found myself getting redirected to OpenDNS. My first question – is it just me or are others seeing this? Before the days of Twitter, I would have to wait for some people to blog or I’d have to find friends on IM to verify the site is down. Now I can just do a quick search across “almost instant” data to see what others are seeing.

Maybe there is a value to Twitter…extremely nominal, but still a use.

Sarah Palin from the 2006 Gubernatorial Debate

I just read through an article describing Palin in the Couric interview as starkly different from the 2006 Gubernatorial Debate in Alaska, so I wanted to know what Palin was like in that debate. At a state level debate Palin definitely showed confidence in her answers, and her answers were really answers. In her Couric interviews she remains vague, suggestive, and unresponsive at times. Maybe she’s just not ready for the national scene, but I guess we’ll find out Thursday night.

At a state level, Palin puts forward a good (conservative) case, but at the national level, it’s been dismal. Here’s some points that in the video you should watch:

* 13:30 – Asked her view on abortion for victims of incest and rape. While I don’t agree with her viewpoint, she answered honestly and directly.

more to come…
